I Miss My Laptop...
Even though it was a slow POS, I still like it better than the desktop Sony I have sitting on my coffee table now. I think the computer itself has tilted me and cost me to lose money on a few occasions. LOL.
Enough about that. I am moving to BoDog. Kinda. Just need to figure out how to get the money over there. I got my boy Doc Carter who looks like he is devising a method to help me out.
I was shadowing the rooms over on the Canadian site last night and was pleased with the number of micro through lower stakes rooms that were available. I am anxious to get over there and test the waters.
I do not think I have been playing my best poker in the past couple days. I believe I have been under a bit of stress and has def. shown a impact on my game. Also, I am not as comfortable as I was in the past playing poker. Literally. I hate the couch and the computer I am using. Everything is cluttered and my house is a mess and I cannot concentrate under these conditions.
I have my own fights with OCD!!

Can You Really Make Money Doing This....?
I am starting wonder if it is even possible...
Ok, so I am being pessimistic. Another weekend has passed and I have taken, yet another, unsuccessful shot at $50 NL. The game is definitely different but I have gotten accustomed to the tendencies of the players and have learned much more about the level of play at .25/.50 these past couple days.
This would have probably been a fairly successful weekend but a combination of a couple bad decisions and a vicious run of bad cards and outdraws lead to a net loss over the 4-days of play. I played a insane amount of hands and am looking forward to using PT to analyze the number of hands I play and pick apart the ones that are costing me money.
I am fortunate to have support and, essentially, have 4-personal coaches that help with my game. They are probably the only reason I still have a bankroll. I am constantly striving to improve my game and learn how to avoid steaming off money unnecessarily plus learn how to save money by monitoring the pots I am involved in.
I want to have a very objective look on my game this coming week. I want to analyze any part of my game that I believe is causing more negative variance than I should really be experiencing. So, everyday this week, I intend on focus on a different hand or error that I notice to be detrimental.
Until Tomorrow! Best Luck at the Tables!

The Party, The Plague and The Poker
Adventures in open-mouth of the toilet bowl...
It has been about a week since I have last updated my blog. I try to make a new entry daily but there are always times where I am unable to put forth the effort. I have not really written much about poker in the past couple weeks but I plan on doing so......
I have moved up a level in my mindset game...I feel like I am ready to seriously start making some money. I have been playing excellent poker and need to focus just a little more on some of my small leaks.
I hit my goal and have been cracking at the $50NL again. The tables are definitely tougher and a little bit of tilt has cost me some money.
I am going to focus on several things for the remainder of the week and be ready to play perfect poker in the prime hours of Friday and Saturday night.
1. I need to focus on my preflop game. I used to be so comfortable 3betting the $25s because none of the players are smart enough to resistance: Let alone 3bet their own hands.
a. I have made the error of calling 3bets with my medium pairs and weaker hands that I feel are just bleeding off unnecessary chips.
b. I need to work on my play in the blinds. I think I am losing money calling or squeezing when I should be.
2. MINDSET, MINDSET, MINDSET. Be ready to win. Slow or Fast. Don't expect too much. Don't over compensate during sluggish periods.
3. Keep more accurate and detailed records.
I have been sick most of the weekend. I thought it was due to St. Patrick's Day. Shit, I was wrong. I woke up early in the AM on Sunday with the worst stomach flu I have had in half-a-decade. I couldn't eat solid food for 2 days. Jared was the first to get sick like this. Zack's friend, Tim, caught at the same time I did. Brandon is sick now. Zack looks like he might miss it.
Anyways

I Got Gheyed
Gimme my half-dolla UB....
http://www.pokerdynasty.net/forum/index.php?topic=852.0
Pretty straightforward. I don't care about the blinds but this is definitely a software error that needs to be fixed.
Hopefully they will give me some free bonus money or something for my inconvenience. :-)

Check It....

Fatigue is a incredible thing. Being unrested, uncomfortable, tired, or just plain exhausted: Fatigue will inhibit your performance, cause improper decisions, effect work quality and even impact one's own personal motivation to succeed.
For myself, I cannot shoot pool or play poker when I am tired. It just does not work. I cannot hold the cue right, I have no aim, I feel uncomfortable in my posture, and all I want to do is drink then go to bed.
That's billiards: In poker, Fatigue costs money. A tired poker player and the expectation to play well do not coincide with each other. I cannot count the buy-in's I have tilted off in the first ten minutes of my session after a long-stressful day. I will overplay all my big hands, play huge pots with marginal situations, and try to bully a table that cannot be bullied.
Getting more sleep is not the only solution to avoid a burnout:
1. Eat Right. The foods that are packed with preservatives, loaded with fat, fried and are heavy on the stomach and cause the body to work harder to digest what is consumed. Eating lighter will not only help keep healthy weak but will revitalize the body as-well. Avoiding fast food and other fatty, bulky foods will definitely help with getting a better nights sleep.
2. Do Not Oversleep: Yes, it is possible too sleep too much. The body is impacted negatively with anything more that 10+ of sleep, IMO. 71/2-8 hours of sleep is ideal. Waking up in morning and being active all day will also combat the laziness accompanied by fatigue.
3. Try to keep a set sleeping schedule. Having a fluctuating schedule will not allow the body and mind to adapt and receive the refreshment they need.
4. Avoid drinking excessive amounts of alcohol on a regular basis in the evening. Alcohol will dehydrate your body and greatly impact the quality of one's sleep.
5. Exercising 3-4 times per week will also develop stamina and boost the human body's natural endorphins that allow it to keep functioning under stress or fatigue.
Monitoring fatigue and living healthy will only ease the daily grind or increase concentration during grueling poker sessions.
Played Short Session last night. Nothing happened but UB "jewing" me. LOL.
See next post.

Slow Mo.....
Cruisin.....
Pretty much just cruising through life. Not much interesting happening because I have not played any serious poker in the past two days.
Zach's friend was in town so, along with Brandon, we went to the pool hall we frequent. Brandon is probably one of the best pool players I know and Zach is getting high on that list also. I have been striving to become a better player and I had the biggest boost in confidence when I ran the table out on my first crack, only going corner-corner to miss the closer on a very hard 8ball shot.
I left them with all there balls on the table and one left for me to make. God, I wish I made that 8ball shot on the opening run!!!
Got drunk, 8-tabled some .05/.10 NL for ten minutes for fun and ended up about $17.
Good Night. LOL.

Another One Bites The Dust.....
This Has Turned Into More Than I Expected...
I started this blog with the intention of making a positive impact on my game and hopefully improve the game of others. I am a constantly taking in new knowledge and trying to seal the leaks in my game because I can admit: I am nowhere near what it takes to be a successful poker player.
Since the inception of "my project", I have been able to develop a stable bankroll for .10/.25 NL. I know I can beat these games and what I am capable of achieving. Although, there are days where nothing clicks, I play well occasionally but end up losing money on bad plays and tilt in the long run. This weekend was a instance of that.
My first mistake was 4-tabling .25/.50 NL while I am new to the limit. I was forced to play more mechanical and my play was easily picked apart by the regulars. I was able to adjust for the most part but anyone who plays on UB knows the speed hands fly at you when you 4-table.
My second mistake was not running well. I am not dwelling on any outdraws because they are to be expected. The hands where I call large bet when I know I have the worst hand: Those are the hands that cost me "Skalansky Dollars" and real dolla bills. (Will someone tell me wtf a Skalansky Dollar" is?)
I.E.
I have the nut flush on a 5689K, all the straight cards where diamonds. I look at Brandon after I bet the river and the Villain pushes for $25-ish more. I ask him if I should call.
"If the only thing that beats you is a S/F then call."
"Fuck You" and I called
I knew he had the 7 diamonds. In fact, he turned the flush and I made a risky draw at that point. Regardless, there are many instances like this in which I am terribly overplaying my hands.
I think instead of drunk poker sessions, I think I am just going to write a blog post. Look forwards to some drunk thoughts of Mo.
I don't think I am done for the day. ;-)

A Response to a Question....
A Open Response to a Question.....
A frequent poster at the PD Forums and a reader of my blog posed a interesting question to me and I figured I would post this and allow for those who are more experienced with game selection so they can also leave some input.

Have you noticed any diference in the 50 players and the 25 players? Are these games softer or harder, in your opinion, than Full Tilt? Was wondering because I'm thinking of making the switch to UB.
TIA,whodatdare
In my opinion, the players at the .05/.10 players were easier to deal and are softer than at FT. Ultimate Bet's software is fast, sleek and has never really given me any problems. I did have some problems occasionally running PokerEdge but other than that I have been happy with UB.
The players on UB, at the .10/.25 NL level, are not much different than the FT players but I do believe there are a few more donks at the microstakes on UB than FT. The problem with UB is the player base is fairley thin at times and you will find yourself in situations playing the same bad regulars constantly.
The player base at FT is larger than UB. The games are probably better at .25/.50 level and up at FT because of this. UB offers great incentives with their player points and is growing rapidly.
So far in my short quest into the .25/.50, I have found that the players are very similar and are slightly better. The players I have met have attacked my c-bets a little more often than the $25 players but I have been able to find ways around their weak play.
On eithier site, I believe there is not much difference between the $50NL and the $25 Nl players. You always have your scattered sharks and those that are halfway compotent but there are just as many bad players at $50 NL. They just have more money to give away at one time.
The decision to switch will be depending on what you are looking for in a site.
I do not see anything wrong with switching to UB. I prefer their software and the option you have of converting your UltimatePoints into cash.
I only want to play at FT to have the larger player base but playing at Full Tilt is slower than watching paint dry.

A Short One for You Guys.......
I am tired and feel like a donkey's ass.
I am exhausted. My eyes are watery. I need to sleep for 13 hours but I am stuck in this office till 10PM.
F- Work. Didn't play pokers last night. Not planning on playing much tonight unless I get some sleep somehow.

Two Posts: One Day.
Two Posts: One Day- My shot at .25/.50.
I do not have too many readers of my blog but that does not stop me from constantly updating my progress as I intended from the start of my project. Since the beginning, I started with $50, signed up for rakeback and received a $50 dollar deposit bonus. I made some big mistakes in throughout this project with my bankroll and playing habits but always managed to keep my head above water.
Recently, I have been putting a emphasis on expanding my game. Learning from my mistakes and becoming profitable. I really owe that to my friends, PokerDynasty and the people on the Forums, and this blog. With the expansion of my poker mind. My bankroll has grown. I have stopped playing insane poker when I am drunk and I stopped playing when I am on tilt.
After the Casino, I decided to take my shot at .25/.50. I honestly believe that these rooms are easier that the $25 NL. I felt more comfortable with the betting structure and the my flexibility with the bets due to the stack sizes. I was playing fairly so there were not too many open tables on UB but was able to find 3 open seats.
I sat down at three tables. Played awesome. Got all-in with AA twice preflop and lost both times!!! - $100 NIIIICE. Both times I was called by pairs small < JJ. Both hit sets on me on the flop.
Thirty minutes later, I was up the $100 plus another $150. I love these stakes. I was playing regular poker and was able to use thinking plays a little more often. I cannot wait to keep building my bankroll and start making some money playing $50 NL.
Bankroll:
Beginning: $790
End: $910

Some Live Pokers
Some Live Pokers......
I will be the first to admit that I am a working schmuck. I love playing poker; but, the thought of doing it for a living never really crossed my mind. I love to make extra monies on the side: I just don't know what I would do if I was stuck in my house all day. Anyways, working is stressful. This is especially true in the insurance industry.
When I finally get off of work, I head on over to Jared's and during our nightly "Board Meeting", I came up with the brilliant idea to go play some live poker at the Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Tampa. There card room is fairly lame with no good live games and massive rake/casino fees on all the tables.
Upon arrival, Brandon, Jared, and I, each walked to the cashiers cage and bought into a 2-2 Hold-Em game. Jared and Brandon came out firing capping the first three pots pre-flop and both of them won fairly nice size pots. Brandon fared the best in the limit game, making several big hands and being paid off handsomely. Jared got stuck about $100 and so did I.
After a hour of realizing limit is ghey when you aren't running well. We all decided to play some NL and found a open $120+5 9 Max Donkament running. We all bought in and it was war.
For the most part we avoided each other during the tournament and made our chips off of the other fish. The first hand of the tournament, I am UTG+2 and I pick up AA. I open-push and get called hesitantly by the button who had AJ. I doubled up.
The tournament went by pretty quickly and finished with me coming in 2nd. Brandon coming in 3rd and Jared making a insane comeback off of Brandon and winning the tournament.

A Nice Day Off Of Work....
A Nice Day Off of Work....
Recently, I have really enjoyed dedicating one of my days off of work to several hours of poker. Tuesday was no different. I had aa rough weekend where I believed I should have made $200 plus but due to careless playing habits and intoxication I only managed to break-even. I was ready to turn a profit today.
I tend to play the best when I am comfortable and when my computer is not giving me any problems. My home computer has been a pain; so, I decided to head over to Dynasty HQ and use the multi-screen systems available. Taking some of my friend, Brandon's advice, I decided to only play 3 tables until I figured out what was causing me to lose my profit margin.
During my session, running poker edge, I noticed that I play much tighter and am able to rely on my reads more when making tough decisions. I was running very well. The sessions went smoothly and was able to pick up a couple big points with the Nuts and gambled with a couple Nut-Flush Draws to pick up a couple more buy-ins.
I felt like I was playing perfect poker and only made a couple of terrible decisions. These decisions were not as detrimental as they are helpful. I learn what kind of moves I make when I am frustrated with a situation or if I am on tilt. I will make calls post-flop and pre-flop that I would normally not make. As I have been growing as poker player, I have been able to substantially cut-back on these errors and save myself plenty of money.
After playing a several hour session: Zach, Brandon, Carter and I decided to go shoot some pool. That is another area where I feel I have developed my skill immensely. I really enjoy going to Peabodys and relaxing with people that I attended high school with and admiring the very attractive servers. Did not get too drunk; but, I still had a good time.
Went home and played poker. Thirty minutes, I won 3 more buy-ins. Niiiiice. Stopped playing, ate and went to bed.
Bankroll:
Beginning: $483
End: $790
Rakeback coming: $80....
I almost have the .25/.50 roll.

To The Weekend
A Weekend In Summation:
Weekends as usual for TheMo. Nothing crazy happened and I didn't do anything special. I worked a long, hard week and was ready to relax. The Jew and I went and shot pool a couple nights this week, in which I proceeded to destroy him constantly. Of course, I did my fair share of drinking and partaking in other activities. Nothing Unusual.
Poker; on the other hand, is weird. I play perfectly at times but still fall into the trap of thinking I can play well intoxicated or stressed. I do not. I played well this weekend at points and won big pots but almost always lost the money. My sessions were definately a roller coaster ride this weekend but I finished without losing any money. This should have been a 6 buy-in weekend, at least.
As for this week, my goals are to safely bulk up my bankroll and improve my game because I am eager to move up to the next level and become profitable so I can use my money from poker winnings, instead of staring at them.
Till Then.....

To a Good Night!!
To A Good Night!!
Keep this short and sweet. Life in the insurance world is dull. Life in the world of Mo involves plenty of self-destruction and Pokers. I worked a long day of work and went my boys crib. Hung out for a little while and went to a local pool hall which is a popular nightspot on wednesday. $1 Drinks. Nice.
Shoot some pool. Not really trying to play well: Just having fun. Have several beers and Zack drives me home. If I shouldn't be driving home. One can correlate that I probably shouldn't be playing Pokers.
Played pokers anyway. Was feeling really good and sat down at some .05/.10 to have a good time and was playing incredible. I was so surprised that I was able to function as a decent poker player and not get myself in trouble.
Untill......
Room is full. Players aren't nuts. Just regular fish with almost full buy-ins.
Villain was about 115BB deep and I was approx. 130BB deep.
Table folds to me:
I raise Q8s in the CO and get called by the SB.
Flop:
9T3 Rainbow
Villain Checks...I bet the pot. Villain Calls.
Turn: 7
9T37
Villain leads for the pot. WTF?
Well I have the gut shot and the overcard.
iamblackmo moves ALL-IN.
Villain InstaCalls
River: 6 Niiiiice
Showdown:
Villain had 99 that I guess he played pretty bad or good. If he had raised my C-bet or led at me on this board. I probably would have folded.
Everyone in the room was in awe. Villain gets up and leaves. I leave shortly because I realized I would just lose my dollas.
Bankroll:
Beginning: $442
End: $483
